Building a website that will get noticed

Aside from all of the offsite marketing you will have to do get your web site noticed you will have to make a site that is visually appealing. I'm not talking about bells and whistles and flashy action scripts. Most of the time you don't want that stuff. People on the internet are busy these days. They might be in the middle of an upload or download when they visit your page. You don't want to have huge file sizes for graphics and such. You want to optimize your graphics for users who have slow internet speeds.

If someone with slow internet speeds can view your page in a half a second. It's going to be a no brainer that people with faster internet speeds will be able to view your page even faster. That's what you want.

Of course having a little bit of flare on the page isn't a bad idea. Just don't over do it.

You'll probably want to have a logo. A digital version of your business logo will work. Maybe some cool navigation buttons. Keep the animation to minimum unless you are an digital animation or graphics professional and the whole point of the site is showing off your skills. You'll want some product pictures and maybe some background images. The big thing to work on here is functionality. If people visit the site and they can't actually use it they will leave no matter how cool your graphics are.

Provide good content. People want to visit a site that offers more information than they need. If they can read through your site in one sitting there's not any reason for them to come back. They are more likely to bookmark the site and return to it if it provides a lot of useful content.

Picking A Domain Name For Brand Recognition

People pick domain names for two main reasons.

1. Search Engine Optimization. Keywords in the domain name itself.

2. Brand Recognition. Business name or cool website name that is easy for people to remember and directly key into their web browser.

Either way you look at it picking a good domain name ultimately results in people visiting your web site.

Brand recognition is important for a business whether you are just starting out or you are a huge multinational corporation. You want people to remember your name and ask for your products by brand name. You want to establish and maintain a loyal customer base and the best way to do that online is with a good domain name. A good domain name for customer recognition should have your product of service name of your business name in it. Pick something that will stick in people's minds. Keep it simple. Really long domain names are great for SEM purposes but they are not so easy for people to remember when they are punching you site into their browser.

If people can't remember the site they are going to do a search. They may use search keywords that will not navigate them to your web site. They might find your competitors site and buy their products.
